As a tribute to my favorite time of the year, I give you 24 hours of entertainment (holiday edition). The movies, songs and TV shows range from funny to dramatic to altogether confusing, but at all times about the upcoming holidays. Even though it has already passed, I also included Halloween for those who love it. In an effort to avoid  bias, I used no particular order of preference.

Movies:

Halloween

  • Hocus Pocus—Warning: Very scary (if you scare easily). (1h 36m)
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas—Animations alone make this a must see. (1h 16m)

Thanksgiving

  • Planes, Trains and Automobiles—A hilarious journey home for the holidays. (1h 33m )

Christmas

  • Home Alone—Macaulay Culkin at his best and Joe Pesci as a villain. (1h 55m)
  • Home Alone 2—The Plaza Hotel in NYC makes for a perfect holiday setting. (2h 1m)
  • Love Actually—One of my favorite movies of all times. (2h 16m)
  • Elf—Will Ferrell is an elf! Need I go on? (1h 37m)

Hanukkah

  • 8 Crazy Nights—A funny animated movie starring Adam Sandler. (1h 26m )

New Year’s

  • When Harry Met Sally—It’s not the Deli scene, but there is New Year’s. (1h 36m)

New Year’s

  • Modern Family—”New Year’s Eve” (season 4 episode 11)—The adults go off and have their own New Year’s Eve celebrations. (22m)
  • How I Met your Mother—”The Limo” (season 1 episode 11)—The gang tries to make it to a bunch of different New Year’s Eve parties.
