The Talon can now be called an award-winning publication. Last June, Mr. Berg and Ms. Pfeiffer submitted our website and print edition for evaluation by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA), the oldest and best known high-school journalism organization in the United States. The Talon entered the competition in the Hybrid category (print and online magazine), and we earned a score of 893 out of 1000 points, which gave us a Gold Medal. (Full disclosure: There was not just one Gold Medal awarded; some other schools earned one, too.) We also earned an Honorable Mention for the quality of the magazine’s writing.
