Talon tunes

We asked some Talonistas to name their personal theme song for the year. Here are their responses:

MC Otani: Hannah Hunt by Vampire Weekend. Because I’m tired and I just want to dance (or sway, whatever) to something.

Paula Schulman: A song that really sums up this past school year for me is Lisztomania by the band Phoenix. I’ve loved this song for a few years now, but it still makes me feel super happy every time I listen to it, which has helped me get through several study sessions during my junior year. It’s the kind of song that just makes you want to stop everything you’re doing and dance to it. It also reminds me a lot of having fun with friends, especially because I saw Phoenix live this April at Lollapalooza, so listening to Lisztomania brings back some great memories.

Michael Borger: My personal theme song: Radioactive by Marina and the Diamonds. It’s my go-to pump-up jam, be it for when I’m doing homework or going to the gym (rare). It helps motivate me to complete everything I need to get done, and it keeps me on track. The rhythm and dynamics, especially Marina’s falsetto, help streamline my thoughts. The acoustic version of the song is also incredible, not to mention I love the lyrics of almost all Marina and the Diamonds’ songs.

Fernanda Fiszner: My personal theme song for this year would have to be It’s Time by the band Imagine Dragons. It’s a very energetic song that always makes me happy no matter the mood I’m in and I never get tired of it even after the countless times it’s been played on the radio! Not only that, but watching the band live at Lollapalooza in April was amazing and definitely one of the highlights of my year.

Rafaela Goldlust: Ideologia by Cazuza. This year was decisive. I think that in many ways and at many times I felt like I was immersed in this almost fantastical reality Cazuza narrates. I see myself in the boy’s life, feeling, seeing, being… the only difference is that hmmm… I have breasts and I see frenemies (girl issues).

Andrea Ferreira: Rather Be by Clean Bandit! It’s a little older but it’s a song that I remember listening to on vacation with my family and friends and at big tournaments. There’s lots of good memories with this song!

Catu Berretta: Dear Prudence from Across The Universe OST. I’m not a huge Beatles fan but this song has gotten me through a lot this year and it has this hopeful mellow tone that works for both sad and grateful/happy times. “The sun is up, the sky is blue. It’s beautiful and so are you.” It’s a nice reminder.
