Every year, a new freshman class arrives in high school, bringing its own personality, traditions, inside jokes, and energy. As the Class of 2030 prepares to enter Grade 9, I thought it would be fair to give everyone a preview of what’s coming.
Even though Graded’s middle school and high school share the same campus, moving into Grade 9 still feels like a big step. We’ve walked past the high school hallways for years, seen older students around, and heard stories about what high school is like. Now, suddenly, we’re the ones heading there. While we’re excited, many of us are also a little nervous. The classes will be more challenging, the expectations will be higher, and the community will feel bigger.
One thing we’re especially excited about is meeting new people. We’ve spent years mostly surrounded by our own grade, and high school opens the door to a larger community. It will be interesting to get to know students from different grades, hear about their experiences, and become part of a side of the school that we have only watched from a distance.
If there’s one thing people should know about our class, it’s that we care. We care about our grades, our activities, and the things we are involved in. We can be competitive, sometimes very competitive, but that’s because many of us genuinely want to do well. You can see this during Spirit Week, sports games, house competitions, and many of the activities we participate in. Whether it’s competing on a team, performing, leading through Student Council, or working hard in class, people in our grade tend to give their full effort.
We’re also a class with a lot of energy. If you’ve ever walked past a group of us, you’ve probably noticed we’re not exactly quiet. We talk, laugh, and bring a lot of excitement wherever we go. A good example of this is when our teams compete, our grade comes together to support our athletes. Whether we’re competing or watching from the sidelines, people are always cheering, celebrating, and encouraging one another. Even when someone doesn’t get the result they hoped for, our grade has always been good at reminding each other that one loss does not define us. We support each other, help each other improve, and make sure everyone feels valued. Sometimes we may be a little loud, but that energy is part of what makes our class who we are.
Of course, the Class of 2030 is not just one personality. We have athletes, artists, leaders, creators, and people with completely different interests. Some students are always involved in activities, while others prefer to support from the sidelines. What makes our grade interesting is the variety of people in it and the memories we’ve created together over the years.
As we get ready to enter high school, none of us knows exactly what the next four years will bring. There will be new challenges, new opportunities, and probably a few moments where we miss the familiarity of middle school. But after years of growing together, we’re ready to see what comes next.
So, if you’re wondering what to expect from the Class of 2030, the truth is we’re still figuring that out ourselves. We’re excited about what’s ahead, a little nervous about the changes, and curious to see what high school has in store for us.
As August gets closer, the Class of 2030 is preparing for a new chapter. We may not know exactly what to expect, but we’re ready to find out.
